If you want insider information about the streets, neighborhoods, schools, communities and towns of Marin, you are starting in the right place.  Whether you want a remote hillside hideaway with great views or a friendly neighborhood filled with bikes and basketballs, we know where the best ones are and we are happy to share that information with our buyers....

Here are some questions to ask yourself (and be sure to let us know the answers)

What is your favorite kind of weather?  How hot is too hot?  How cool is too cold?  A summer day can vary from 95F in Novato at the same time its in the 60s in parts of Mill Valley and Sausalito....

What kind of community do you want?  Do you want a close knit community where everyone seems to know everyone (Like Larkspur an Corte Madera) or a more rural feeling, private kind of paradise like West Marin or the hills of Tiburon?

It's hard to over-generalize about the towns and neighborhoods, and many times, when we meet a buyer we just get a feel for what kind of town you'd like best. Many east coast transplants love Mill Valley's feel. It's a small town, but with a little more there-there than Larkspur or San Anselmo.  San Anselmo has a wonderful, low key and casual feel, although the whole county is known for this. You can wear your sweats and flip flops almost anywhere, and make up is never required, let alone for a trip to the gym.

What lifestyle features are important?  Do you want to walk to neighbohood restaurants and coffee shops?  Or would you rather have access to trails nearby?  Do you enjoy an urban feel, with many shops and restaurants to choose from? Or do you want more of a Maybery, one-horse-town kind of life?

Politics are different too.   On the political spectrum, working left to right, we go from West Marin, Fairfax and Sausalito on the far side, then to San Anselmo, Larkspur/Corte Madera (The Twin Cities) and Mill Valley, then Kentfield, Tiburon, Ross and Belvedere tend to be more conservative (because its residents tend to be wealthier).  I hope we're not getting into trouble and offending anyone here.  Keep in mind these are just generalities and there are exceptions.  I'm sure there are Republicans in Fairfax, but I bet they're pretty quiet about it!
