Walk, don’t drive to evacuation training.

The Larkspur Fire Department wants Madrone Canyon residents to understand evacuation procedures in case of a major disaster, so they are asking that canyon residents walk down to the Larkspur Café Theater on Saturday June 10th at 9 a.m.
Twin Cities Police and fire personnel will present specific information and instructions for Madrone Canyon residents.  Fire Captain Jim Clark is arranging the meeting. You can contact him with questions at 927-5007.  Jim gives three reasons why residents should walk, not drive, to this meeting:
1. Evacuation practice – You will learn how long it takes to walk from your home to Magnolia Ave.
2. It will help familiarize you with land marks and alternate routes along the way.
3. Parking is limited in the Downtown area.

That’s some pretty smart planning, don’t you think?  And you get a little exercise to boot.  I’m sure this program will be worthwhile, and a great chance for neighbors to become better acquainted, which will be important if and when disaster strikes.
